The Rising … the work continues.2

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT:We are pleased to confirm that the acclaimed Scottish actor David O’Hara (Braveheart, The Departed) will play the role of 1916 rebellion leader James Connolly, in the upcoming movie ‘The Rising’.

Connolly and Seán MacDiarmada were executed side by side on May 12th 1916 in Kilmainham Jail. The role of Seán MacDiarmada will be played by the actor Colin Morgan (Merlin, Humans)

    Those who commented generally seemed to think this was a good choice. It was something of a relief to see some further casting.

    Saw a new article about further casting for The Rising. Names mentioned are Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy. Can’t really comment on Colin Farrell as don’t know much about him, but I thought Cillian Murphy was excellent in The Wind That Shakes the Barley. I did notice where they are using the phrase ‘in the centenary year’ for the release instead of the actual Easter date.

    Have to wonder about how much of it has to do with an actor’s availability at the time they plan on filming.
