An interesting comparison ..

The resemblance between & is uncanny indeed!

It would be interesting to know where this photo of the young Sean was found.  Any detectives out there who can help with this?  Either way, it is certainly an interesting comparison.  🙂

This photo appears in the book “Sean MacDiarmada, The Mind of the Revolution.” Unfortunately, the caption just says ‘Sean MacDiarmada as a young man.’ I can’t find anywhere in the book where they give credits for the pictures. And no actual age given. In a previous family photo (a big family), he looks younger, maybe eight to ten? I wonder if this could be a school picture as the only other one where he is by himself is an obvious studio picture and he is an adult.

There are a couple of group pictures (1906 and 1908) where you can see the resemblance, too. He was still clean shaven in those. I think he may have grown the beard during his time in Mountjoy prison. When we get closer to the time for filming I want to reread the book.

  3. I’ve seen a couple of photo melds that some people have done that were interesting as well.
