(It should be mentioned that neither Channel 4 nor AMC have yet added their confirmation to the information concerning Humans season/series 03.  We are waiting) … AT LAST WE HAVE IT.  BOTH KUDOS AND AMC HAVE CONFIRMED S03 IN PRODUCTION.

Humans . 2.0

Humans.London.1The second season – or Humans 2.0 – will begin on Channel 4 on Sunday October 30 at 9pm. The series will also be eight episodes long.  There are some hints about where the continuing story may take us.  We are eager to begin.

“As unconfirmed reports of synths behaving inexplicably surface, the ripple effects of one simple yet seismic decision sees the past return dramatically and surprisingly to the door of the Hawkins house,” states Channel 4. “Joe, Laura and the entire family are faced with a difficult choice that will put the family under an intense spotlight.
In Berlin, Niska (Emily Berrington) continues her life as a fugitive where an unexpected romantic encounter leads her to make a decision which has great consequences.”

Odi Returns ?

Odi returns ©  Channel 4

We grew very fond of Odi.  We hope he will be repaired and find a family of his own.  ❤

Excerpts from Digital Spy article dated 09 May 2016.

Hidden in last month’s big casting announcement was confirmation that Will Tudor will be back on the Channel 4 show.  That’ll come as a surprise to anyone who watched the first series, in which his Synth character Odi appeared to meet his end.

Humans writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley had previously told DS that they have plans to expand that world into a third series and beyond

Humans will return to Channel 4 later in 2016.

“Turn: Washington’s Spies” … Season 3

This series follows New York cabbage farmer, Abraham Woodhull, who bands together with a group of childhood friends and forms The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who help turn the tide in America’s fight for independence.

Turn: Washington Spies … a very interesting AMC tv series

All actors are excellent.  Story is intriguing.  Production values are high.  It’s a pleasure visually, and some early American history is dramatized in an interesting way.

Right now Netflix is streaming both Seasons 01 and 02, on their website.  This gives you a chance to catch up with the plots and characters before the third season/series is aired April 25th, which will be comprised of 10 episodes.

You can find profiles of some of the main characters in the Category: Turn: Washington’s Spies, listed in the sidebar Topics menu.  Enjoy!

BAFTA 2016

.
Another of our favorites:  Ben Whishaw… exceptionally talented in whatever he does.
.
He was on their radar once before, in the Emmy-winning “The Hour,” and he’s coming off a strong year that also included high-profile roles in “Suffragette,” “The Danish Girl,” “Spectre” and “The Lobster.” Also consider some of his strong critical notices for “London Spy”:

Grantchester, Series 2, coming soon

New episodes are scheduled to premiere on ITV on March 27, 2016.

Among the  UK ITV offerings, Grantchester is a favorite.  We very much enjoyed the first season and look forward to the second.  The series is based on The Grantchester Mysteries books written by James Runcie. Grantchester was created by Daisy Coulam (EastEnders, Casualty) and executive produced by Diederick Santer (Jane Eyre, EastEnders).

The storyline of Grantchester is set in a 1950s Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester near Cambridge. The series follows local Anglican vicar Sidney Chambers (portrayed by James Norton; Happy Valley, Mr. Turner) and Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (portrayed by Robson Green; Strike Back, Mount Pleasant) as they as they investigate wrongdoing in their small community.

We found Grantchester last year on our Smart TV (PBS app).  The first season had aired in the UK in October-November 2014.  We may have to find other ways to view it this time, rather than wait for the usual delay imposed on American fans.

“Turn” & AMC

April of 2014 there came an AMC offering completely pleasing, interesting, well-done, with a hint of history that presents both admirable and less than admirable characters from both sides.  It’s the American Revolution.  And, the Red-Coats are not all unlikeable, nor are the Rebels all heroes.

Turn.1

Done, much as Merlin was done, with Cinema quality cinematography, editing, and beautiful presentation, it is a pleasure to watch.  The small details of the conflict have us harkening back, looking up trivia, and getting interested again in this event that led to the creation of a new nation on the world stage.

Seasons 1 and 2 were interesting and involving … so easy to root for the Rebels, and find preferences among the Redcoats.  We have high expectations for Season 3.

To revisit and review some of the series’ major characters:  select “Turn: Washington’s Spies” from the Topics listing on the Sidebar.

Merlin (why I love it) *.

There are a lot of things about the series Merlin that I love.  I loved them then; I love them now.  Ideals of integrity, devotion, and friendship done against wonderful backgrounds of forests and castles … studies on relationships, parent/child, brother/sister, good vs evil, difficult choices … etc.   So much is hidden  in the anticipated story-line resolutions.

The cast of Merlin

All of these themes contribute to the maturing of our hero, who starts the story as a naive country boy newly arrived in the city; a city that is dangerous for anyone with his special abilities.  Through 5 seasons we watch this young actor display humor, sorrow, joy, anguish, loyalty and devastation.  Merlin does not acquire his maturity easily … he takes us on his journey filled with hope and arrives at the end with acceptance that not all things are within his power.

losing arthur.2.1

There are interesting philosophical questions presented to us. …  I love that Merlin is placed in so many moral dilemmas. I love that his magic does not come easily … that he has to practice … that he often doesn’t get it right the first time or two. I love that Gaius does not have unlimited knowledge … that he very often has to find an answer in one of his many books. I love that Merlin is given different advice by different people, both of whom he respects, and is left on his own trying to evaluate the “right” thing to do. I love that frequently the “right” thing leads to the opposite of the desired result. There is so much irony … so much that cannot be traced to only one good choice. (Like life …)  Did Merlin make the right decision?  Did he make the wrong decision?  Which decision would have led to the preferred outcome?  Does the preferred outcome end up being the best outcome?  Can we know that answer … even if we are writing the script ourselves?

There are so many of these kinds of questions raised. This is a story of the heart, and for that I am grateful. It is also a story ripe with ethical examinations … and Colin helps us understand these … helps us experience the anguish of heavy decisions that can affect all he holds dear. We are not standing aloof as an observer only, we suffer with him.
